Skip IIS and use the preinstalled Apache Server on OS X

Why bother with malware-prone Internet Information Server, when you have industrial-strength Apache preinstalled on OS X?

Just turn on Personal Web Sharing in Sharing system preferences and Apache is configured for you by OS X. Each OS X user gets their own site at http://bonjour-name.local/~username.

To publish, just populate your Sites folder in your home directory.

If you enabled Windows Sharing, you can even publish from Parallels XP.
