  Protect your privacy with FILEVAULT

If you are sharing your Mac with other users, you may want to protect your files in your Home Folder against prying eyes. Tiger has FileVault feature to encrypt your files to protect against those snooping into your Home Folder.

First, you need a master password set by an Admin-level user to activate this. Click on System Preferences icon. Then click on security and the Security settings window will appear (see image below).



Then click on Turn On FileVault.. A password dialog box will appear where you need to input your account login password. Just click on Turn On FileVault once you see the confirmation dialog box and it will display the encryption progress dialog box.
