While we wait for the fruits of Apple and Google's board co-mingling (it took all of 231 days for Apple and Disney to come up with movie downloads when Steve joined the Disney Board January 24), you can get a foretaste of the Google-Apple combine by synching iCal with Google Calendar.
Since Apple followed the iCalendar standard (
RFC 2445) with iCal, Google Calendar integration was a no-brainer (which leads me to wonder why Yahoo Calendar doesn't do it).
1. In Google Calendar, click on
Calendar Settings.
2. In the
Calendar Details tab, go to the Calendar Address Section and click on the green iCal button.
3. A small window will open up with a long URL. Right-click on the URL and Copy it to the Clipboard.
4. Click on the
Share this Calendar tab and set the sharing privileges. Unless you turn on Sharing, iCal synching will not work.
5. Go to iCal, go to the Calendar menu and select
Subscribe. Paste in the URL from the clipboard and you're good to go!
