Eliminate noise in audio line out when connected to external DVI

So you're setting up a DJ rig with your MBP. You have encoded your whole CD library in Apple's Lossless AAC format and you have an external LCD to monitor the playlist.

But what's that hiss in the background?!

It turns out that Apple recommends that you "disconnect" the ground in your audio cable when hooking up the MBP. Yep, that means, cutting it or unsoldering it.

Per the MacBook Pro Audio Developer Note:
Quote:
"For best results, equipment plugged into the line/headphone output jack should not connect the audio ground to other grounds, such as the chassis or "green-wire" ground."
