  Toggle verbose mode at startup
By javester

At startup, you normally just see the Mac logo with the spinning progress indicator. Behind the scenes, the Mac starts up all kinds of services to get things going.

Should you want to take a peek next time you boot your Mac, just enter following command in Terminal:
Quote:
sudo nvram boot-args="-v"
To turn off verbose (that's what the v stands for) mode off:
Quote:
sudo nvram boot-args=""
What is this good for, you may ask? When you're at your wit's end troubleshooting a Mac problem, you may want to turn on verbose mode before you hike up to your local Apple Store.
The error messages may just give you a clue as to what the problem is.
