Greetings all,
This build has most features in but not fully implemented. Make sure iPhoto is closed before you run the
installer which can be downloaded from
www.photouplink.com
Launch iPhoto. Highlight the images, albums or videos you want to process then select Export from the File menu
and click on the PhotoUplink tab. You will see 5 feature tabs:
About -
This build expires at the end of October 2006, so if any problems arise in the export menu because of installing
this, they will stop at that point, or go into the iPhoto package and delete the UplinkExport plugin manually.
This build is for experienced pro users only. Use entirely at your own risk, be careful you are working with
original images and no warranty is expressed or implied. Only 5 items will be processed no matter how many you
have selected, your purchased copy will not have this limitation.
FTP -
Use this to FTP images and videos directly from iPhoto. The fields in this tab are pretty self explanatory, and
it will create a notification email to send to other people for you. For other Mac users, an Applescript is
provided that will import your items directly into a local iPhoto album on their desktop, just by clicking on it
in the notification email. The Windows reader will also automatically import the items into My Pictures.
Database -
This allows you to export your image and video information to FileMaker or Excel databases. The ODBC feature
also exports the binary image data into any ODBC database, allowing easy setup and updating of web image and
video databases. This has been tested with MySQL running on a Windows server, this is disruptive technology,
the first time you can do this from iPhoto, it really opens up iPhoto as an asset management system.
Document -
Create a PowerPoint presentation of the selected images automatically. This makes a new PPT file with all the
images inserted one image or video per slide, its a litte rough right now but provides a great skeleton file for
you to start working with. It will also create a Word document for you, with one image per page. The Archive
feature is pending but will automatically create a Zip archive for you of the items selected.
Effect -
Most digital cameras these days allow you to also take short videos that will be imported into iPhoto along with
your images. One of the two features here allows you to join the selected videos together into one longer video,
its very cool. The other feature is a panorama feature, it simply joins the images together horizontally that
you have selected, the height is determined by the last image selected, move the images around in iPhoto to get
them in the order you want.
So there you have it, all the features are in but pretty rough, just click and wait, if it doesnt work there is
no feedback but its worth a try, all the progress bars, status texts etc will be in the next couple of builds.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, trying it out, and your continued interest in PhotoUpLink.
Cheers,
Mark S. Morris
