According to "reliable sources", the next version of OS X will run Windows apps transparently inside OS X using virtualization technology.
Much the same way OS 9 was run as Classic when OS X first came out and Rosetta runs PowerPC apps on MacTels, Apple is rumoured to be working with Intel on taking advantage of on-chip virtualization technology.
