The added ADC prices are great! Is there any way to add an additional column for "another special rate"? The college I will be going to is offering a special rate, which is now lower than the others.

Awesome!!! Just what I needed to push me over the edge... It's funny how you subtitled it "Rationalizing your MacTel purchase to your spouse". That's what I exactly had to do

And you know what... it worked!!! I turned the tables on her for once. She always does this to me when she buys something for the house when we go to the mall, rationalizing how we save money by taking advantage of the promos.

I always argue that we're still spending money, regardless. This time around, it was my turn to use the ploy (hehehe)

And man... You Are an Excel God!!!! That worksheet is wicked!

jeff318,
FYI. I'm working on it. It's taking a bit longer than I anticipated since as what often happens - I got carried away and have overengineered it.

But just to let you know, what's coming:
  • Get price schedules from the MTC web site automatically.
  • Ability to specify custom rates
  • Ability to incorporate extra bundles that other merchants throw in

It will be a staggered release, and the custom rates will come first.

Also, working on another bit of skunkworks project, which IMHO, will be a "must have" for MacTellers. Can't really tell you much more about it but I'm targetting to release it no later than next week.

P.S.
Have you tried the ADC Student Discount setting? Is your store even lower than ADC student rates? Regardless, the wksheet shows that Amazon is still cheaper than ADC Student if you apply all the Amazon promos.

Not sure I'll get the Amazon rebate - 05-10-2006, 01:39 AM

So I ordered the 17" Macbook Pro from Amazon on 5/9/06 (the last day for the $150 rebate). The rebate info says the last day to submit the rebate is 6/9/06, and to do that I'll need the packing slip. But Amazon shows the item is scheduled to be delivered between 6/9/06 and 6/27/06. If I had chosen their free shipping, it would arrive even later. So it looks like there's a good chance I won't get the laptop in time to apply for the rebate! I'll have to get in touch with Amazon about this, but their customer service has been pretty bad in my experience. The last time I checked, they don't even publish their customer service phone number. (It's 800-201-7575 in case anyone else needs it.)

Zee,
When we ordered our 1.83Ghz MBP last month, we were also given a pessimistic estimated shipping date. It arrived a few days earlier than the estimate and we opted for the free shipping as well.
Also, Amazon wasted no time renewing the rebates till May 30, with a postmark date of June 30, so you should be good even if Amazon only delivers per their estimate.

I dunno if you opted for the Amazon Visa promo, but in our case, we opened a new account, and got the $30 signup discount on the spot. The $50 in reward certificates came in about a week after we placed the order.

Yes, actually. The school's promotion is 10% off of the academic price, which brings it to $1619 before taxes. (plus, don't have to pay the $99 ADC fee) I'm contemplating the ADC deal just to get the other perks, though. (maybe it could help me get on apple's good list for a campus rep job?) Does anyone know what comes in the Welcome Kit these days? All I can find online is a listing from 2003.

Zee,
Any updates on your order? Did you get your 17" already?

BTW, I just noticed that Amazon still has some old MBP 1.83 and 2.0 stock. They're shaving off an additional $100 off them on top of the rebate.

If you want to save even more money, that could be the way to go since the benchmarks that have been coming out show a negligible difference between the high-end Core Duos.

Besides, if you're not happy with em, I've heard you can go to the local Apple Store and have it exchanged.
