Apple adds a 17 inch option to the MacBookPro line for $2,799. For an additional $300 over the high-end 15" MBP, you get a 2.16 Ghz Dual Core processor; 20 gb more disk space; a faster, dual-layer SuperDrive; an additional Firewire 800 port; and an additional USB port.
Interestingly, the 15" MBP goes for the same price if ordered with a 2.16Ghz processor instead of the stock 2.0Ghz processor. Its even more expensive by $100 if a 120gb hard drive is ordered instead of the standard 100gb to match the specs of the 17".
This leaves the 12" form factor, the only PowerBook left with a PowerPC processor.
In another twist,
CoreDuoNews.com pointed out that a
similarly configured Dell XPS 1710 is actually $500 more than the new MBP!
