Exclamation Today's the last day for generous Mactel rebates! (April 11) - 04-10-2006, 11:18 AM

Still waffling about buying that MacTel even with all the glowing reports about Boot Camp? Here's another incentive to get off your arse and buy it already!

Amazon's generous rebates for the MacTels ends today- April 11:

And if you are already an A9 user (A9 is Amazon's search engine), you get an additional 1.57% (π/2%) off on top of the rebate and the free shipping.

And don't forget - in most jurisdictions, you won't need to pay taxes when buying from Amazon, unlike the Apple Store. In NYC, for instance, that's additional savings of $215 for the top-of-the-line MacBook Pro!

With all these savings, you'll have enough money to buy Parallels Workstation 2.1, some much needed additional memory to run Windows in Parallels, and still have some money left to boot (Windows, OS X, and now... even Linux!!!)

(Triple-pardon the triple-boot pun)

Update:
Check out Amazon's Top Seller List. These things are flying off the shelves!!!

Also, note the additional tip below (post #5) that can potentially save you an additional $105 on top of the rebate for a total potential savings of about $450!!!

And don't mind the Inquirer telling you to wait till June...

Being a long-time Mac enthusiast, buying six of these babies in the past 9 years, Apple does not do price-drops unlike Dell and other beige-box makers.

They just keep bumping up the spec at the same price point.

In the same breath, everybody knows that with anything electronic, computers in particular, you'll end up waiting forever.

Just get the most bang for the buck at the time you make your decision... and this deal certainly qualifies

Make that seven with the MacBook Pro I just bought at Amazon...

And they are all still working!!!

Ever since I got the Apple bug in 97:
  • G3 Blue Clamshell iBook is now my (ahem) bathroom web browsing appliance with Debian Linux PPC.
  • iMac Special Edition was given to a family friend and is still happily running OS 9
  • 15" G4 PowerBook was given to my bro-in-law
  • a 17" iLamp, one of my favorite designs, is now my sister's living room computer
  • G5 17" iMac is my current living room computer
  • Mac Mini Core Duo KVMed with my lone Dell computer in the master bedroom
  • 1.83Ghz MacBook Pro is now my workhorse

I know... i know... its an incurable case of Applefania....

Save yet more money on top of rebate - 04-11-2006, 10:37 AM

When you sign up for the Amazon Visa card, you get 3 reward points for every dollar spent in the Amazon store. Every 2,500 points gets you a 25$ gift certicate.

So for a $2500 MacBook Pro, that's $75 in gift certificates. Finally, if you sign up today, they're throwing in another $30.

That's an additional $105 on top of the $150 rebate!

The catch is the rewards are gift certificates that you'll have to use for future Amazon.com purchases. But that's enough moolah to get an Airport Express for just an additional $25. The Airport Express, IMHO, is the perfect partner for a MacBook Pro.
