Parallels Launches Apple Boot Camp Rival - 06-15-2006, 04:41 PM

Parallels launches its Desktop for Mac virtualization software, which has emerged from beta and is available for $49.99.

The software, which allows Intel-based Apple computers to run Windows XP, lets Apple users run Windows XP and Apple's OS X at the same time.

Apple's Boot Camp software requires a restart in Windows or OS X.

Parallels software takes relies on hypervisor-powered virtualization engine, and supports Intel Virtualization Technology, included in Intel-powered Macs.

Desktop for Mac's features let users:

* Run any version of Windows at the same time as Mac OS X at near-native speeds, without dual booting or restarting.

* Use Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, OS/2, eComStation, or MS-DOS programs alongside Mac OS X applications.

Cut and paste between platforms
Virtual PC and your Mac share the same clipboard, making it easy to copy and paste between programs, no matter which platform—Windows or Mac—you are using.

Okay that was a cut and paste. My point is that if you want to emulates a PC This program has been around for years and has been optimized for G5's. No Intel version yet. If you do not presently have WinDoze, this package is the way to go, if you have a non Intel Mac. That is really my point. If you do not own WinDoze this is the way to go. It is also packaged in some of the Office packages.

One more time, if you have a non Intel Mac, you CAN emulate a WinDoze machine.

Thank You

There are cars you drive and cars you work on. I own a Mac.
