Is Windows On a Mac Really Drawing in New Users? - 05-25-2006, 01:00 AM

In the past few days, I’ve read of a few stories of people switching to a Mac for their next computer system, and I’ve even had a couple of friends who have decided, or at least contemplated switching over to a Mac. Their chief reason why? It can run Windows! After years of Mac bashing with long moans of “there’s hardly any applications available for it,” and “you can’t play games,” or even the rather unimaginative argument of “it’s rubbish next to XP,” more and more people are finally realizing what a truly awesome operating system Tiger is.

As I am continually updating the Must-Have Software (Must Have Software) I am starting to realize most of the programs I want/need are actually available for Mac OS X! The only other programs I can't just port over are my games, which is only two games (Battlefield 2 and Half Life 2). Other than that, Windows XP for me is almost completely pointless on a Mac.

I'm just glad I am mostly a console gamer

So I partially agree with that statement. Although for some people they really want to switch, but their work is using one program that you NEED to use and it does not have a Mac OS X version.

So I think Apple made a wise decision in releasing Boot Camp, maybe someday they will make it so you don't need to restart... Of course we do have Parallels...

The iPod is drawing new users. People fall in love with how easy something can be to operate. How they never have to pick up a manual to figure out how to do what they want to do with their iPod. You know Mac people have been saying their computers are this way too.
iTunes is sweet. It works on their Pee Cee and it is really easy to buy and load and Free Music Tuesday's, a new free download every week. These Apple people really think different.

Okay running WinDoze may throw this into the next gear, but the switch was already in motion for many.
