Thumbs up Pismo gets larger Hard drive - 07-29-2006, 07:47 PM

So far all is going well. I am installing OS 10.4 on my Pismo with a refurbished 30 GB hard drive. It came with a 10 GB hard drive and the last upgrade by way of System Update almost didn't take as there was little room left. Hard to believe that most MP3 players have more storage than my dear ole Pismo.
The Pismo is a beautiful laptop that still has quite a following. It sells for more used than some laptops sell for new. Forty dollars was not a bad price to pay for a 30 GB hard drive for a lap top. It is great for cruising around looking for open networks.
I am not installing all of the foreign language translations and just the HP and Canon print drivers have been selected. Still Tiger comes on a DVD and not a floppy. Operating systems are resource hogs. Tiger does run well the Pismo. Garage Band can only handle about four tracks in real time thought. For the most part this will be my Daughters laptop and iTunes for her Blue Mini. With the added space I may look into getting Office (Student ed) for her school needs. So far AppleWorks has done it all.
Well this is my rant for the night. I hear music from the Pismo, time to return to the install.

There are cars you drive and cars you work on. I own a Mac.

Part 2 - 07-29-2006, 08:18 PM

340 MB of down loads through System Update. When I install iLife there will be more updates. Yes these are just the operating system related updates. Java, QuickTime, DVD player, iTunes, OSX 10.4.7, iPod, and this is cute iTunes phone driver? Excuse me while I Google.

Sorry for this misplaced post! - 08-31-2006, 10:23 AM

I am a new Mac user and been playing around with it. I was trying the stickies app and configured the font and color. I then deleted the introductory notes. I mistakenly hit the "Set default.." before creating a new note. Now the stickies are gone. I can't seem to find it. At one point I was able to see it when i hit Translucent and then Collapse. Buy I can't resize it. When I hit on Expand so that I can resize it by dragging on the bottom right hand side -- this part I'm just guessing -- I just see a long strip on my desktop. And that resize option seem to be missing, I guess it's too small for me to hit accurately or there's no such option in the stickies.

Can anybody help me?

Wow Stickies! - 09-06-2006, 07:23 PM

I haven't played with stickies since they were first introduced. They just weren't me ya know.

Try this, trash your stickie preferences. Where you ask?

Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences.............your home or user folder then Library folder then Preferences folder.

Item is named

com.apple.Stickies.plist

Trash it and reopen your stickies. Enjoy!
