Hmmm... the Video iPod speculation April 1 was a dud. Still, it seems that everybody is still convinced that Apple will spring another iPod surprise before long especially since this March was the first time Apple had a downturn in their iPod sales.
Nothing like new toys to get people excited, right?

research note from Pipper Jaffray? US iPod owners typically own 1.2 iPods?!? And 10% of the US population has iPods! Amazing!!!
My money is still on the Video iPod. Apple will just have to figure out battery life and a revised DRM scheme that both the studios and consumers can live with.
Apple was able to get away with murder when it first negotiated with the Music Studios 2003 with the user-friendly Fairplay DRM. I don't think the studios will fold as easily this time.
Also, they need to allow users to rip their DVDs to the bigger Video iPods, as to how they do that with the studio's consent is the trick.
