What made you want to switch to Mac OS X from either Linux or Windows?

It just works!!!! When they say that, they really mean it. Its just not a marketing tagline.

And man, I'm a techno-dweeb who enjoys all the knobs and dials. I use Linux all the time and its fantastic as a server OS. In all the major projects I worked in during the last five years, Linux was our default choice for the server.

But as a desktop operating system, it just blows. KDE is starting to show promise, but it still has a ways to go and I wouldn't dare release it to the people at the secretarial pool.

So I'm not really a switcher in the pure sense of the word, call me a "OS freelancer" - *Nix on the server (Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris), OS X on the desktop with an option to run Windows, if need be (especially, when I need to play the latest game )

They're tools people. Use the right tool for the right job.

Well said dyani...

We should not fall into the trap of "my OS is better than yours" debates. Nobody wins!

There's enough space for everybody to play and make nice.

Just look at the auto industry. Plenty of car manufacturers around, right? IMHO, Apple is a Porsche and Windows is a Ford Focus. They both get the basic job done, one is just more stable and has more bells & whistles than the other.
