I don't always get it at the same time but I do get it for all Computers and laptops. This last time I got it I did not realize that I had to activate it. My wife's iMac power supply went out. Stinky stinky, ya know. I told them I had Apple Care and they said I did not. I gave them the web order number and they looked it up and said I never activated it. The tech that I was talking to at the time handled it over the phone and all was well again. I did feel that I was getting a different level of service prior to the recognition of my having Apple Care at all levels.
I did not get it on my first iPod or the second for my wife or for the Mini for my daughter.
A computer and the heat that it generates and the uncertainty of quality parts make a three year plan well worth the consideration. Now if you are one of those that will be selling it in 12 or 18 months to get the latest greatest then save your bucks. Or buy it because it will make selling it easier because it is still under warranty.
