Bring back the iLamp! - 04-10-2006, 12:50 PM

The G4 made its debut on these beauts, and appropriately so.

They are a marvel of engineering and is still a head turner even to this day.

Its a shame that Apple no longer makes iLamps as they are affectionately called. They are not only very distinctive, they're also imminently functional. I tried to recapture the essence of the iLamp with my iMac G5 using the Ergotron LCD arm, but its just not the same.

Do you think Apple should bring back the iLamp form factor?

I think so... Although I think they should change the base so it looks a bit better... I always liked the look of the iLamp... I do like the current iMac but it is just a but tooo boxy if you know what I mean

The 20 inch iMac is just stunning. Add the Bluetooth and AirPort which is standard on the newer ones and it is just stunning. Plug your printer into an AirPort or AirPort Express and you will only have a power plug going to your computer. Add another AirPort Express so you can pipe your iTunes to your stereo and really wow your friends.

The mini just keeps going up in price and the iMac just keeps coming down in price. I have even seen them at Costco stores, though I do not know which model or size.

No going back to the iLamp for me.

I agree. But at the very least, Apple should make VESA adapters for the new iMacs. I have a 17" iMac myself and I just found out that the current VESA adapters Apple sells does not work with the current iMacs.

What gives? Apple, can you at least give us a VESA mounting option for the current iMacs?
