With the introduction of Boot Camp, gaming on MacTels will never be the same.
As a self-appointed Apple evangelist, my conversations with Windows friends often get into a soft-sell on switching to the Mac.
Over the years, I have refined my pitch from a vitriolic tirade against the Evil Empire, to a stealth pitch with a feigned nonchalant attitude while I play with my PowerBook in front of ‘em, doing stuff that’s bound to get them drooling.
"Whoa!!! Was that? Expose? Widgets? Wow!!! That movie you minimized to the Dock is still playing! Man!!! Unix inside!?! iPhoto! iMovie! Keynote! Comic Life! I wish we had em on Windows… You can switch desktops with 3D effects with
Desktop Manager?!?! Man,
CoverFlow is awweeesssooommmeeee!! I love iLife!!!! I love
QuickSilver!!!! Instant wake from sleep!? Where can I buy one?!?!"
And then, just as the switcher-to-be is about to be sold, the conversation will inevitably turn to games…
Dead silence… cue sound of crickets….

I’d reply - “Aaaaahhh… you can play World of Warcraft! And then, there’s Halo, Quake 4, Sims 2 and Civ III, and, and, and…”
And they’d interject – “No Half-Life 2? No Oblivion? No Battle for Middle Earth 2? No City of Heroes? Civ III – that’s so 2001! What about Civ IV? ”
“But Aspyr is going to port Civ IV this year!!” I’d assert. “And there’s Chess….” My voice trailing…
But by now, from the look of my friend’s face. I know I’ve lost another convert to be… I tell you, I feel for the “Lost another loan to DiTech!!!” guy…
Digg it!
