USB rechargeable AA batteries are only available in England but there is still time for them to find their way to your Christmas stocking.

This is another one of those "Why didn't I think of that!?!" inventions.

Hopefully, some company can pick it up and make it more widespread in the US of A.

Right now, Google is on a campaign to get more efficient power supplies installed on PCs. Perhaps, they can include this too in their push.

Its amazing just how much dangerous materials there are in batteries and how people don't give a second thought to just tossing em.

Hhhhmmmm.... maybe even Walmart can pressure its suppliers to give it cheapo. Just witness how Walmart is on a charge to sell a lot of compact fluorescent lightbulbs.

Em CFLs last 5 to 10 times longer than a normal lightbulb and consume a fraction of the energy.

Now going back to the Apple fold, Apple does have iPod recycling (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2005...3recycle.html), where they give you a 10% discount on a new iPod to sweeten the deal.

I just wish they'd make more noise about it in the Apple Store. Maybe they should start running some public-service ads and signage in the store to get people to do the responsible thing.
