So Dell is doing a Gateway and setting up test showrooms in New Jersey and Texas.

To top things off, they're doing it at malls with Apple Stores.

Dude, get a clue!!!

I honestly think that this will fail miserably. Apple has been the ONLY ones who have done it correctly at each store they open!

Many companies in the past failed miserably at their own stores and the new Dell stores aren't much closer to the quality of the Apple Stores

As in sales, where, "You can't sell from an empty wagon!"; in repair, you have to "Be equipped to do the job!".

Dell is ready for neither. A partnership with UPS is the best answer>

Hello all I am new here. I have a paper due on the weaknesses of Dell opening a retail location. Can anyone help me to understand why this is not going to work. I know nothing about Dell or any computer manuf. for the matter but I what to learn. Can some on help me?

To me it seems like the Dell Stores are saying "Hey look at me! I have plenty of computers here that you can have! Just one catch, you can't buy it from here, you will have to go online or to a third party source." So I think people will be discouraged by the Dell Stores and ignore that option since you can't actually go home with a computer from the store.
