Without much fanfare, Apple "stealth-launched" the MacBook on their website.
Even though its $100 more expensive than the previous generation, the MacBook has generous specs:

Intel Core Duo 1.83/2.0 Ghz
Magsafe connector
13.3" screens that are 80% brighter than the previous generation
built-in iSight
FrontRow with Apple Remote
on top of a larger HD and more memory

So generous in fact, that Apple silently bumped the MBP's specs as well. The low-end 15" 1.83Ghz to 2.0Ghz, and the 15" 2.0 to 2.16Ghz. The 17" remains at 2.16Ghz.

With the launch well ahead of the back-to-school buying season, Apple is now well poised to grab a respectable chunk of the education market.
